IRISH SENSATION.

Former Minister Accuses Attorney-General. IMMUNITY FOR I.R.A. (" Times " Cables.) LONDON, November 3. The Dublin correspondent of "The Times" reports that a sensational attack was made in the Dail on Mr. Conor MacGuire, Attorney-General, by Mr. Fitzgerald Kenny, ex-Minis-ter of Justice. °

"Where important leaders of the Irish Republican Army are concerned the Courts are not functioning," declared Mr. Kenny. He alleged that Mr. MacGuire was unfitted for office. The ex-Minister referred to a recent outrage in Mayo where a gang attacked the house of Mr. Gavin, a former officer of the Free State Army. Mr. Gavin shot oiie man, whom the police arrested but never prosecuted. • "I want to know why the conspiracy acrainst, Mr. Gavin was ignored?" said Mr. Kenny. He also referred to the "Kilrush scandal." This originated in a shooting case which resulted in the wounding of Messrs. .Gilmore and Ryan. A commission recently reported that the police had exceeded their duty and in consequence two of them were dismissed and one was transferred to the uniformed branch. Mr. Kenny urged that the police should be tried by a Court, not by a prejudiced commission, a member of which was counsel to the Irish Republican Army. In the Kerry finding the tribunal had horrified everyone with a sense of justice. Numbers of offences were reported to the Attorney-General which were ignored because he feared to injure his party, said Mr. Kenny. Mr. MacGuire denied stopping prosecutions. He said he had set his face against interference by the Executive Council. There had been only th»ee or four cases in which a hint had been given as to how he should deal with them.
