NATIONAL COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women was held on Monday evening, when the president, Miss Ellen Melville, presided. Disappointment was expressed at the lack of support given by the other branches of the council to the request for co-operation in making representations to the Government on the question of the Bible in schools. As replies from the. branches were not received by the Dominion: executive in time to make the necessary representations, the latter was forced *to drop the matter.
