"TOO MUCH PULL"

POLITICS AND UNIVERSITY. DEFEATED MEMBER'S PROTEST CHAIRMAN ADVISES SILENCE. (By Telegra'ph.— Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Complaining- that politics had too much "pull" in the Senate of the University of New Zealand, Mr. A. E. Flower, speaking at a meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors yesterday, said that it was a great pity that this state of affairs-should exist. Mr. Flower's statement followed his defeat for a seat on the Senate, where he has represented the board for some years. He contended that politics had obtruded themselves into the Senate. Mr. E. J. Howard, M.P.: I think I should liave something to say about this. The chairman, Mr. C. T. Aschman: I don't want to stop you, but I think you would be wise not to. There was no further discussion.
