CUSTOMS REVENUE.

INCREASE MAINTAINED. FIGURES FOR TEN MONTHS. The Customs returns for Auckland last month show that there was an improvement of £10,305 in revenue over the same month last year, the totals being:—l 932, £158,863; and 1931; £148,498. The total for the first ten months of this yea'r ie greater by £383,542 than that for the same period last year, the figures being £1,026,i31 and £1,242,589. Revenue from petrol tax and tyre , duties in the first ten months of this year was £394,732, and for that of the corresponding period last year, £442,567 —a drop of £47,835. The sum of £10,139 was collected in beer duties last month, which was an increase of £430 for the corresponding month last year. The revenue for the first ten months of the current year wae £98,558, as against £83,609 last year— an increase of £14,589. AT OTHER PORTS. FALLING OFF IN RECEIPTS" Wellington.—Custom* revenue, beer duty and petrol tax collected at Wellington last month were as. follow, figures for last October being given in parentheses: Net Customs, £169,716 (£192,255); beer duty, £5202 (£5119); petrol tax, £40,785 (£50.223); tyre tax, £1497 (£1O1G).

Figures for the seven months of the current financial year, with the corresponding figures for last year in parentheses., are: Customs, £420,201 (£397,700); beer duty, £40,484 (£47,920); petrol tax, £107,803 (£138,023); tyre duty, £4718 (£0701). Dunedin. —The Customs returns at Dunedin for the month ended yesterday were £47,072, against £49,147 for the corresponding month last year. Beer duty was £24,792, as against £15,852. The motor tyre tax-was £777, compared with £730 for October last year, and the petrol tax amounted to £13,754, against £15,081.
