ELLERSLIE CLUB.
In the presence of a large number of friends and bowlers from many clubs the official opening of the Ellersiie Bowling Club celebrated the club's twenty-first anniversary. The weather was not of the best, but the greens played very well under the conditions that prevailed. Mr. Ilardwlcke, the president, welcomed the visitors, lie also welcomed -Mr. Jordan. M.l\, and patron of the club, aud Mr. Miiliken, chairman of the Ellersiie Town Board. The president advised that the membership of the club was 04, and that several new members were joiuing. Mr. Jordan and Mr. Miiliken complimented the club on its financial position. The Auckland Centre was represented by Mr E. W. Inder. who congratulated the club on its finance, and also the green superintendent on the condition of the greens. After the president had expressed bis best wishes for a happy and successful season Mrs. Tlardwicke threw the first jack, which was painted with the club's colours, and the greens were declared open for the season.
