LEAGUE FINANCE.
Defaulting States Urged to Meet Obligations. MR. BRUCE'S COMPLAINT. (Received 12 noon.) GENEVA, October 7. Acknowledging the Loans Committee's memorial the League Council passed a resolution reaffirming the grave concern with which it views the continued failure of certain States to meet their obligations, and urging that they resume full, payment at the earliest date. The committee requests the Finance Committee to advise whether .further remedial action can be taken at present.
Mr. S. M. Bruce, opposing a joint resolution by Poland, Czecho-Slovakia, Rumania, Yugoslavia and Hungary for revalorisation of agricultural products in order to remedy the economic and financial position of those countries, said that the fall of the prices of these products was not confined to. Europe, but was felt all over the world. One of the most serious criticisms levelled against the League was th/it it was merely concerned with the problems of Europe without recognising its obligations to the remainder of the world.
