SMALL CRAFT AT SEA.
BETH'S ROUTE UNCERTAIN.
It is not known locally whether the launch Beth, Which sailed from Wliangaroa for Australia on Sunday last, is to call at Norfolk Island. A call at that place was Mr. T. H. Webb's first intention, but before lie left Auckland he hinted that the conditions of the weather might influence him in making direct for Lord Howe Island. No definite information concerning the progress of the launch, which is bound for Adelaide, has 'been received since she left Whangaroa. When the steamer Morinda arrived at Auckland from Norfolk Island yesterday it was reported that the Beth had not been "spoken." Later one of the officers i;ccalled having seen a small craft about 25 miles north-east of North Capo on Thursday afternoon. No signals were exchanged, and, as the vessels passed at a distance of four miles, the identity of the smaller one was not ascertained. Locally it is thought that the small craft sighted from the Morinda was probably the yacht Heartsease, which sailed from Whangarci on Tuesday.
