THE BUDGET QUILT.

RIGHT ROYAL RESPONSE. HARVEST OF SEEDS OF KINDNESS. The Budget quilt campaign is now .closed. Five weeks have passed since the club issued an S.O.S. to club members calling for patches for patchwork quilts. The appeal did not pass unheeded. From every corner of New Zealand patches have poured into this office. The response has been most cheering and encouraging. We are proud, indeed, of our girl members proud of the spirit that prompted them one and all to band together and do their best to make the campaign such a wonderful success.

Although the campaign has actually closed now, we would like readers to know that patches may still be forwarded, and, indeed, will be most welcome. If you, therefore, have just finished knitting your patch, send it along to be included in the Budget quilt. It will be acknowledged at a later date.

Many splendid parcels of patches have been received during the past fortnight. Special mention must be made of a patch received from Alexa Holmes, of Point Chevalier. Into this patch the words "Our Budget Quilt" had been skilfully knitted, and, as can well be imagined, the effect was charming. Mention must also be made of a parcel sent in by Dorothy Wiles, a little eight-year-old reader at Morningside, who forwarded nine beautifully knitted patches. As before, in addition to these, many parcels were received with no clue as to the identity of the senders.

The following list acknowledges patches received up to Friday, September 30. Another long list will be published next week:
