SHERIFF DEFIED. (Received 12.30 p.m.) REGINA (Sask.), October 5. The Provincial Treasurer of Saskatchewan, Mr. M. A. MacPherson, states that the Government will not interfere in the Seizures of farmers' effects by municipalities for taxes diie. A Toronto message says that, defying the sheriff, who was attempting to evict Walter Mays, unemployed, for the nonpayment of a mortgage on his home, 150 others, also out of work, have guarded hie house for three days.

The sheriff has twice been repulsed. "Only over our dead bodies will the furniture be rem'oved," the men eay.
