TRAM CONDUCTORS HURT.
MAN STRUCK BY GOLF BALL. Injuries serious enough to necessitate his removal to the hospital were received by a tram conductor, Mr. William Otter, aged 49, of 21, .Parrish Road, Saudringham, when he fell against a seat last evening and received concussion. He was helping a woman passenger to alight when he slipped and fell. He was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and his condition to-day is reported as not serious. Another tram conductor, Mr. Francis Walsh, of 45, Millais Street, Grey Lynn, was fortunate to escape with a severe cut on the head when he struck his head on a centre pole while the tram was in motion. He was leaning out to see tha direction sign when at the intersection of Queen and Customs Streets. He was taken to the hospital in the St. John Ambulance, but after having several stitches in the wound was able to go home. As the result of being struck by a golf ball, Mr. John Shanley, aged 21, of 86, Grafton Road, suffered injuries to hit left eye, when playing at the Maungakiekie links yesterday. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition today is reported as not serious. Mr. L. Stewart, of 33, Symonds Street, received a scalp wound as the result of an accident in the early hours of yesterday morning. He was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and his condition is reported not to be serious.
