PURSUED BY STUDENTS.
BOARDINGHOUSE AFFAIR. TWO MEN FOR TRIAL. The twfr men arrested after they had been pursued by University students, who found them in suspicious circumstances at tho rear of a boardingliouse in Wynyard Street on Saturday night, September 17, William Preston, aged 46, carter, and George Nottingham, 45, labourer, appeared in the Police Court this morning. Each was charged with being a rogue and vagabond, found by night without lawful excuse on enclosed premises, and also with stealing ties valued at 15/ belonging to one of tlie boarders. After hearing lengthy evidence, the magistrate committed both accused, who pleaded not guilty, to the Supreme Court for trial. Preston was allowed bail in the sum of £100.
