CLAY BIRD SHOOTING.
TAKAPUNA GUN CLUB. The Takapuna Gun Club held its usual fortnightly shoot on Saturday last at Barry's Point, Takapuna. A following wind had a tendency to cause the birds to drop suddenly, but some good shooting was witnessed considering the conditions. Results; — Seven-bird Eye-'opener.—P. Seccombe (17yds) shot the possible of 7 birds and took the sweep. The next best scores were: R. H. Bartley (16yds). 6 birds, and D. J. Henderson (16yds), R. Good (14yds), W. R. Ayton (14yds), and J. McGregor (16yds), who shot 5 birds each. Fifteen-bird Handicap, for first and second trophies.—C. C. Rae (18yds) shot L 4 birds and won outright the first trophy and first sweep. R. H. Bartley (16yds), L. .T. Henderson (15yds) and R. Good (14yds) shot 13 birds each and divided the second sweep money. In the shoot-off (5 birds, then first miss out) L. J. Henderson and R. Good missed their 20th bird, Bartley getting his and taking the second trophy. Seven-bird Walk Up.—F. 11. Seccombe. Tj. J. Henderson and C; C. Rae shot six birds each. In the shoot off (first miss out) C. C. Rae missed his Stli bird, b. J. Henderson missed his 9th bird, F. Seccombe getting his 9th bird and winning the sweep. The next best score was R. H. Bartley, who shot 5 birds.' First 7-bird Gimcrack (back two yards for each break).—C. C. Rae, 14-26 yds, shot the possible and took the sweep. R. H. Bartley, 12-24 yds, Bhot 6 birds; L. J. Henderson, 12-20 yds, F. H. Seccombe, 14-24 yds, shot 5 birds each. Second 7-bird Gimcrack. —R. H. Bartley, 14-26 yds and F. H. Seccombe, 16-28 yds, shot the possible of 7 birds. Seccombe won the shoot-off and took the sweep money. The next best scores were: C. C. Rae, 16-24 yds, and J. McGregor, 11-19 yds, who shot 5 birds each. The next-shoot is Saturday, October 15, when the members will entertain their ■wives and friends.
