PUBLIC NOTICES. -pAWLINGS QCIIOLARSHIK The Trustees under the Will of the late Humphrey Rawlings offer three Scholarships for competition in December next. The Scholarships are tenable for three years, commencing from the first term in the year 1933, and consist of free tuition at either the Auckland Grammar School or King's College as the parents of the scholars may choose. A maintenance allowance of ilO per annum, payable quarterly, will also be advanced to each scholar. Only boys under the age of twelve years on December 1 next, attending one of the public common schools of the Provincial District of Auckland, and the sons of poor parents, will be eligible for the Scholarship. Notice is hereby given that It Is the intention of the Auckland City Council to introduce a Local Bill into Parliament during the present session thereof under the name of "The Auckland City Empowering Act, 1932." The objects of the said Bill are: — (a) To authorise the Auckland City Council by Special Order to raise - a Special Loan, not exceeding £25,000, in connection with roading access to the old railway station'site at Auckland. (b) To authorise the City Council to declare certain streets In the Avondale District to be pufclic streets and to exercise certain powers in relation thereto. (c) To facilitate the exercise by the City Council of its powers as a Domain Board. (d) To make provision to enable the method of voting by a cross to be used at local elections in Auckland. (e) To authorise the City Council to grant a Lease to the Auckland Education Board of certain lands. (f) To authorise the City Council to purchase tramway passes for the free use of the Mayor and councillors.
