TRACK GALLOPS.

PREPARING FOR AVONDALE. WORK AT ELLERSLIE.SEVERAL FAST SPRINTS RECORDED. Perfect weather prevailed for , training at Ellerslie this morning, and though the going on No. 2 grass track was a bit on the dead side, some useful efforts were recorded over sprint distances. The fastest times were registered by Lord Aintree, Kiltowyn, Llanore and Gay Cockade. No. 2 Grass. Sir Val was first out, running three furlongs in 41 4-ss. This maiden is making excellent progress at present. On Approval and Mahkill were sent six furlongs, running the first three in 38 3-ss, and the full distance in 1.19 4-5. Gay Broney assisted them over the last three furlongs, which took 41 2-ss. The last named and On Approval were on terms at the finish, with Mahkill a number of lengths, away. Ruling King got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.35 3-5, doing it nicely. Clontarf Bill was given strong work, traversing his last half-mile in 54 4-ss. Supreme Ruler ran half a mile comfortably in 54 3-ss. This maiden is thriving particularly well. Imamint put a lot of dash into a three-furlong effort, which she covered in 38 3-ss. Lord Aintree was a couple of lengths ahead of Court Haven after completing five furlongs in 1.4 4-5. This was the best of the morning over the distance, and Lord Aintree did his work well. Hampton Park was given an easy six furlongs, which occupied 1.25 1-5. He was hard held throughout. Jewelled Girdle worked over six furlongs at a little worse than 15s to the furlong. Tahae Mea and Echo Song were timed to run three furlongs in 38 3-ss. They were together at the finish, both being kept up to their work.

Catoma completed a. round in 1.52, the last eix furlongs taking 1.25 2-5 and the final half-mile 575. Karangapai was going better than' Ornamental at the end of four furlongs, registering 52 2-ss. The former is coming to hand very fast. Kiltowyn and Tetrarchate reeled off three furlongs in 37 3-ss. They were together over the first two and a half furlongs, but Kiltowyn drew away at the finish. Tetrarchate shaped well, considering it was his first fast work since he resumed. Good Idea strode over seven furlongs in 1.43 4-5, and Tarporley was holding Vilma safely at the end of half a mile in 51 4-ss. Tarporley looks in first-rate condition. Gay Cockade was a shade better than Psychologist after, completing a round in 3-5, the final six furlongs being covered in 1.21 2-5. Croupier was going comfortably beside Hunting March at the end of five furlongs in 1.6 4-5. Marching Song and Neil were companions over a round, which occupied 1.53, the last six furlongs taking 1.25 3-5. Neil pleased most, though he had a pull in the weights. Patutahi was allotted a round, running his last seven furlongs in 1.40. Wee Pat assisted him over the last five furlongs, beating him by about a dozen lengths in 1.7 1-5. Hawthorn ran half a mile easily in 55 1-5% and Cynthia N. was allotted .strong work, but was not after time. My Money was going better than Barn Dance after traversing three furlongs in 39 l-ss. Over a similar distance Llanore registered 38 l-ss. This mare is making excellent progress. Royal Gallant got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.35 3-5. He commenced slowly and ran his last six furlongs in 1.21. Roman Mascot did useful work over seven furlongs, but was not required to make time. Demylus was too good for Lady Winifrede at the conclusion of six furlongs run in 1.22. Claremore and Egyptian King were some lengths ahead of Absent after traversing a. round in 1.50 2-5, the final six furlongs taking 1.23 4-5.

Others tp do useful tasks were Thunderstorm, Operatic, Wee Musk, Chief Emerald, United, Angie and Norval Tea.
