PERSONAL.

Mr. C. G. Macindoe left by the Maunganui to-day on a visit to Sydney. Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited exprees. Mr. H. Horton and Mr. G. C. Codlin, of Auckland, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited exprees. Mr. W. L. Clabburn, of Wellington, who arrived in the city yesterday, left by the Maunganui this afternoon for Sydney. Mr. M. H. Wynyard, member of the Main Highways Board, returned from Wellington this morning. He has been attending a meeting of the board. The Rev. Dr. Pinfold, secretary of the Wellington Ministers' Association, arrived, this morning by the Maunganui. He will be remaining in the city for a fewdays. Mr. F. C. Dewar, director, and Mr. R. H. Smythe, secretary, to the New Zealand Perpetual Forests, Limited, left for Sydney this afternoon by the Maunganui. Mr. E. Allen hae been appointed a member of the Assessment Court for the North Auckland district, and Mr. J. C. Potts has been appointed a member for the Auckland district. Sir Alexander Roberts has been reappointed director in Wellington of the A.M.P. Society, an office which he held prior to his residence in England as New Zealand Commissioner -to the British Empire Exhibition. Major R. Miles, officer commanding the Royal New Zealand Artillery, Northern Command, returned to Auckland this morning. He has» been attending a refresher course at Trentham of the New Zealand Artillery. Mr. I. F. Bowater, of the English firm of W. V. Bowater and Sons, paper manufacturers, and Mr. E. W. C. Hughes, managing director in Australia, arrived in Auckland this morning by the express. They left by the Maunganui this afternoon. Mr. H. O. Armitage, who has been manager of the National Bank of New Zealand at Dargaville for some five years, is to retire after 44 years' service. Mr. Armitage was manager of the Waiuku branch for some years, and upon retirement will live in the town again.
