MAMOS AND DETTON. One of the most youthful of the overseas wrestlers who have visited New Zealand, but one who has held his own against the most noted of the older school, Dean Detton will make his first Auckland appearance on Monday evening at the Town Hall against Harry Mamos. Detton, though, only 25 years of age, has had over 320 matches, and has scored 250 wine, including decisions over Tom Alley, Kilonis, Ted Thye and Abe Coleman. Like Tom Alley, he comes from. Detton was considered the fastest amongst bhe wrestlers this year in Australia, where he had a good season, and he is considered likely to bring about a first defeat in New Zealand of Mamos, who has drawn with both Walker and Karasick. In the professional wrestling bout this evening George Walker (13st 101b) defeated Dean Detton (13sfc 51b) after five rounds. Detton secured a fall in the third round. In the fifth he was thrown out of the ring twice and, after being thrown heavily to the mat with a head-lock, was unable to continue. It was an interesting bout. Detton's scientific knowledge was nullified, however, by Walker's outstanding strength.
