AIDING RELIEF WORKERS.
ONEHUNGA COMMITTEE'S SERVICE
Good work is being done by the United Relief Committee at Onehunga. The Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, said last night that the relief workers and others were well satisfied with the assistance they were receiving. One good feature was that the work was being done at a minimum of expense. Mr. J. E. Green, organiser, reported that donations of clothing, meat and vegetables were being made regularly. New garments had been given to 300 families, and 60 families were receiving parcels of meat every week. A gratifying feature, said the Mayor, was the repayment for boots and clothing by the relief workers, amounting to 78 per cent of the money advanced to them. The funds, however, were getting low, and now stood at £60. A donation of £25 was received from the Bank of New Zealand for the relief of women and children in the district.
