NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR TITLE. TOURNEY AT DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. In the New Zealand amateur billiards championship three matches were played this morning. H. McLean (Christchurch) beat L. Coombe (Milton) by 066 to 553. It was an interesting game, in which the greater experience of the Christchurch man told. McLean's best breaks were 37 and 32, and Coombe's 61 and 42. In the afternoon E. N. Stewart (Dunedin) beat L., G. McDonald (Dunedin) by 666 to 409. The winner's cannoning won the match. His best brealtsovere 53, 44. 33 unfinished, and 32. McDonald's were 54. 29 and 25. The best exhibition so far was that between Mason and F. Anderson, whom Mason beat by 666 to 263. Mason outclassed his opponent entirely, playing a good, open game. He relied on all-round billiards for scoring. His best breaks were 37, 62. 75. 63 and 31. Anderson only twice exceeded 20, making a 22 and a 21.
