WANGANUI MEETING.
YESTERDAY'S GALLQPS. GANPAT GOES WELL. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star. ,, .) WANGANUI, Thursday. The Wanganui tracks are in splendid order, the going being very fast for this season of the year, owing to the spell of dry weather. Some rain is now falling, and it will be very welcome, as it will benefit the tracks for next week's racing. The weather wae dull but fine for training operations this morning, when there were some interesting gallops. Before breakfast W. Rayner ' gave Midinette a good working gallop over a circuit on the course proper, wide out. The Limond—Motley filly hit out freely, and promises to strip very fit for the Avondale meeting, at which she will make her first appearance for the season. Ganpat (H. Dulieu) and Grand Joy (W. Feilding) were associated for a spin over four furlongs, in which the former finished about a length ahead in 51s —a good gallop. Ganpat looks all the better for liis race at Marton, and he should run a Rood race in the Durie Hack next Thursday, in which he is to be ridden by E. Keesing. Linoleum and Pomp were sent live furlongs together, but were not extended to register 1.6 4-5, with Pomp soing jjarticularly well. The two-year-old Widden (Moabite —Pennon) and Spiral (Limond —Drax) were given a run over three furlongs, which occupied 395. the last quarter being done in 20%5. Widden was going along very nicely, but they were not doing theilr best. After the interval, Head Lady (J. Barry) left five furlongs behind comfortably'in 1.0, the last half taking 525. The t\vo-yea.r-old Midian hopped off at the sixfurlong peg with Gold Gleam, and they ran half a mile in 535, the first quarter in 255. Midian was then pulled up, Gold Gleam running out the six in 1.20. Bold Baron, the two-year-old son of Grand Knight and Civility, and Jackplane slipped over two furlongs in 265, finishing together. Bold Baron hit out in fine style, but it will be some time before he is..ready to show his true quality, though lie is engaged in the Debutante Stakes. The, Lysander—Bronze filly Rust was given a run over three furlongs, which she cut out in 39 4-5s without being bustled. Rust is engaged in the Debutante Stakes, in which Mr. Geo. Curxie also has Spiral engaged. The latter is not being hurried in his .preparation, but should be in good ehape for the Avondale meeting.
