WEEK-END PRICES IN SHOPS. ADVANCE IN BUTTER. FRUIT AND VEGETABLES PLENTIFUL. Following upon the firmer market for butter in London, an advance in the retail price locally has taken place since last report. Eggs firmed one penny per dozen to-day. A fair amount of fruit arrived this week from California, Sydney and the Islands. Small mandarins can now be got at 20 to 30 for a shilling, but larger fruit sell at from 8d to 1/ per dozen. Navel oranges are quoted at 1/6 per dozen. Loeally-growii lemons, also Poorman oranges, are still in heavy supply arid offered at low prices. Passion fruit are quoted from 8d to 10d per dozen. New potatoes are not quite so plentiful, small tubers are offered at 2d per lb, but fine large ones rule from 4d to 5d per lb. Onions are still scarce and dear. Tomatoes are quoted from 6d <to 8d per lb, and asparagus is offered at 1/ per bundle. Green peas are 6d per lb this week and runner beans 10d per lb. Cauliflower and cabbage are in heavy supply and very low prices are asked. • Quotations are as follow:— Eggs. Fresh hen and duck eggs, 1/ per. dozen. Bacon and Hams. First grade factory butter, 1/3 per lb, cash acroßS the counter, Id extra when booked; second grade, 1/2 per lb. Farmers' butter, 1/ per lb. Cheese, mild, full cream, 10d to 1/ per lb; medium matured, 1/2 to 1/3 per lb. Meat (Cash at Shops.)
