ONE FIRE BOARD.
MT. EDEN APPROVES PRINCIPLE.
After some debate, during which Mr. F. L. Eendell maintained that the council should not bind the board by reservations, the Mount Eden Borough Council last night passed a motion affirming the principle of a metropolitan fire board on the basis of the decisions of the conference of August 29, but stipulating that empowering legislation should be sought only when the local bodies were agreed, and, further, that if such a board were formed, the present Mount Eden Fire Brigade station should be retained, and that the estimated cost shoald not be easeeded for five years. '
