BILL FOR WATER.
MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD
MOUNT EDEN CLAIMS £1900,
Inquiring into the reason for a sudden rise in its water account from the City Council, the Mount Eden Borough Council discovered recently that its neighbour, the Mount Roskill Road Board, had been obtaining water from the Mount Eden supply. The waterworks foreman of the Mount Eden Borough Council reported to last night's meeting that he had cut and capped the main giving supply to Mount Roskill, and the Mayor, Mr. T. McNab, stated that the council's solicitors had been instructed to sue for £1900, of which £900 was previously outstanding, and £1000 for the water taken without permission. The main from which the Mount Roskill Road Board had obtained the water was, the Mayor explained, the one through which the board was supplied when Mount Roskill used to obtain part of its water supply through Mount Eden. The Mount Roskill Board had since made an agreement with Onehunga for a supply of water, but when the Onehunga supply broke down temporarily, the Mount Roskill Board turned on the Mount Eden main again.
