RUGBY, August 8,
Sir Alfred Watson, editor of the Calcutta "Statesman," who v.-as recently shot at by a Ber.gali terrorist, has received messages from the Secretary of State for India, the Viceroy, and Lady Willingdon, and from all over the world congratulating him on his miraculous escape. At a meeting, at which all the leaders of the Indian parties spoke, the Calcutta Corporation unanimously carried a resolution condemning the outrage.
At a luncheon' given to the Rajah of Santosh, as president cf the Indian Football Association, at which Sir Alfred Watson presided, the Rajah expressed the earnest hope that the attacks on the servants of India would cease.
