THAMES VALLEY DRAINAGE BOARD.
Mr. F. E. Hughes presided at the August meeting of the Thames Valley Drainage Board at Te Aroha on Thursday, when there was a full attendance of members. Unauthorised Expenditure.—A letter was read from the Audit Office stating there was no statutory right for the board to contribute toward clothing and blankets for relief camps, under unauthorised expenditure. Ohine Bridge.—The Piako County Council advised there was little chance of obtaining a subsidy this year for the Ohine Bridge. The council would be agreeable to accept 25 per cent of the cost front the board after the receipt of a Government subsidy. Drainage Bill. —In the matter of the proposed Drainage Bill it was decided to press the matter with the Government with a-view to it being passed.
