DISTINGUISHED NEW ZEALADER.
Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly, the well-known Christcliurcii artist, has received, mation from her agents in England that the picture which she had hung in the Salon in Paris had been honoured with an "honourable mention," and that she is one of the only three Britishers thus honoured. There is sometimes a misunderstanding concerning the matter of the salons in Paris, as only this one carries distinction, and it is Societe des Artists Francais. There are other salons, which admit outside painters and whose standard is not considered high, but this societe sets the standard each year for the best work exhibited in France, and in this year's catalogue of the "Salon" exhibition the authorities have reproduced the picture in a large size. It is a portrait of Miss Edith Bryant.
