NOISY MOTOR CYCLES.

From time to time complaints are ventilated in these columns re noisy vehicles. A simple remedy, to my mind, has apparently escaped the notice of our controllers of traffic. Briefly, it is: Appoint in the various centres an agent, preferably a mechanic, to inspect all applicants' motor cycles, try out the exhausts, and see that no cut-out was operative (any found so could be scaled by brazing), and a certificate issued that all was in order. A small fee of, say, half-a-crown should be sufficient to cover all expenses, and such certificate would require to be produced before the number plates for the ensuing year were issued. The cut-out is productive of very little more power, and is quite unnecessary, except for use in lieu of horn, and I am sure that if this suggestion were adopted it would bring great relief to the community as a whole.
