America Beats Germany by One Rubber. SHIELDS GOES DOWN AGAIN. (Received 12 noon.) PARIS, July 24. The United States defeated Germany by three rubbers to two in the interzone final of the Davis Cup. Later results:— Doubles.- —Allison and Van Ryn (America) beat Prenn and Von Cramm, C—3, 6—4, 6—l. Singles.—Prenu (Germany) beat Shields, 6—l, 6—o, 6—B, 6—2; Vines (America) beat Von Cramm, 3—6, 6—3, 9—7, 6—3. Von Cramm started brilliantly, playing admirably ' and breaking his opponent's forcing game by varying the speed of his shots. He made some amazing recoveries, but Vines triumphed through his opponent's experience.
