AERIAL SURVEY.

Operations in Far North of Australia. 'PLANES AT DARWIN. (Received 10 a.m.) DARWIN, this day. Two Wapiti Royal Air Force 'planes arrived at 3.35 yesterday afternoon, carrying Flight-Lieutenant Charlesworth, Pilot Officer Miles, two mechanics, Johneton and Jones, a photographer named Brinsley and Dr. Woolnough, Commonwealth Government geologist. Dr. Woolnough visited Darwin 21 years ago on horseback, taking 11 weeks to cover the same distance covered by the 'plane in two days. The 'planes will remain for 10 days, taking aerial photographs of the coast line, and Melville and Bathurst Islands in connection with geological surveys, fortifications, oil tanks and an aerial base.
