Sir Alexander Herdman leaves Auckland to-morrow for DargaviUe. Mr. Cory Wright, of Wellington, arrived in. Auckland this morning by train. Mr. T. H. Macky left this afternoon for Australia by the Mariposa on a brief holiday visit. Mr. B. Shiel, aviation officer for the Vacuum Oil Company, left by the Mariposa to-day on a visit to Sydney. Mr. G. ('. W. Morris, of Auckland, left by the Mariposa to-day. He expects to be away sonic six weeks. Captain G. 13. Hoddinott. formerly master of the Union Company's Poolla. arrived from Wellington yesterday, lie will take charge of the steamer Waimen. Sir Apirana Ngata, Minister of Native Affaire, the Hon. G. J. Smith, M.L.C., and Mr. 10. W. Alison arrived in Auckland this morning by the express. Commander E. Lyon Bcrthon, officer-in-charge of the Naval base, who hus been indisposed for several days., leaves Auckland on Wednesday evening, for a week's holiday at Taupo. Mr. D. J. Young, of Fpsom, was a passenger to-day by the M|iriposa on his way to England and the Continent on business connected with an aeroplane invention. Mr. D. A. Ewen, of Wellington, managing director of the firm of Savgood, Son and Ewcn, Limited, arrived by the Limited express this morning. He was accompanied by Mrs. Eweii. Constable Matthew Brady, fornierly of Gisborne, officer in charge of the Kaiti police station, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant, and will be transferred to Auckland at the end of the month. Mr. E. E. Boucher, president of the Auckland Aero Club, left by the Mnriposii this afternoon for Sydney. He will visit the Sydney and Melbourne aerodromes, and will be away about three weeks. Mr. C. Eskell. manager in New Zealand for Universal Films. Limited, was a passenger to Auckland by the express this morning. He is at the Grand Hotel, as also is Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of Williamsons' Picture Corporation, Limited. The Eev. Henii Potatau, of Taupo, the first fully ordained Maori minister of the Presbyterian Church, is visiting Wellington for the annual old boys' reunion of the Scots' College, of which he is a notable old boy. He is the direel descendant of the. paramount chief of the Tuwhakairiora tribe, of the East. Coast.
