LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
SOUTH AUCKLAND VISIT. (JOVERNOR-GENERAL TO ATTEND. The management of the Auckland R"S^ V League last evening received official advice from Government House that the Governor-General will attend Carlaw Park on Saturday. His Excellency and party will be received at the gate entrance by the patron of the League, Mr. J. Donald, and the president, Mr. J. Carlaw, and on the ground will be received by the chairman, Mr. George Rhodes, and the hon. secretary, Mr. Ivan Culpan. This will be Lord Bledisloe's second visit to headquarters. . Arrangements for the South Auckland v. Auckland and Probables v. Possibles matches on Saturday were reported to be well advanced. Ralph Walker, formerly of Richmond, was granted a clearance to play for Taupiri. It wan decided to inform the Devonport Club that as far as possible senior and reserve grade matches were allocated on the same grounds and at different times to suit the inter-changing of players from reserves where necessary. Only once in the season had it been essential to make a departure from this procedure. Matches to be played on Saturday:— Auckland v. South Auckland, Carlaw Park No. 1, 3 p.m., Mr. V.
