VALUATION DISPUTE.
HOSPITAL LEVY. COUNTY CLAIMS REDUCTION. CASK GOES TO SUPREME COURT. (By I'elcgraph.—Owu Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this clay. Having had the county revalued and a reduction made, the Wanganui County Council considers it should be entitled to a. reduction in the hospital levy of approximately £200 as from April 1. Tho Vuluer-Ucnerai takes a different view, and contends that a reduction should not take, place until as from the end of the next financial year. Neither side will give way, the council contending that in the past many local bodies have been bluffed. A meeting today instructed the county solicitor to take the matter to the .Supreme Court. The Valuer-General raises the point that the council got the benefit in years past of a lower levy when the valuation was increased. The council says this has nothing to do with the matter.
