PROTEST RECEIVED.
GREAT NORTHERN HURDLES. STATUS OF MR. CORRY'S HORSES. ELIGIBILITY QUESTIONED. In the Great Northern Hurdle Race run at Ellerslie on Juno 3 last, Mr. J. J. Corry's Landmark and Make Up finished first and second, and Messrs. E. and X. Foreman's Full Mark was third.
A protest has now been received by the Auckland Racing Club against Mr. Corry's horses being allowed to run in the race. A Supremo Court action was brought by Mr. Corry in regard to the ownership of Croupier, who raced in his colours last season, but in August last a partnership was registered in Croupier between Mr. Corry and Messrs. John and .James Paterson, of Auckland. Mr. Justice Herdnian found that the horse was owned by the Messrs. Paterson, and it is in consequence of this judg.nent that the Messrs. Foreman are appealing. They wish to test the eligibility of -Mr. Cdrry'a horses to take part in the Great Northern Hurdle Race in view of the Supreme Court action. The. stakes have been paid out to Mr. Corry, but the Auckland Racing Club will consider the protest shortly.
