WATER SUPPLY WANTED.
NORTH AUCKLAND PROPOSAL.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ' .WHANGABEI, this day.
A letter asking for the council's support in requesting the Government to take some steps in. the direction of providing an adequate water supply in the Itiponui district wae submitted by Mr. F. Elliott at yesterday'e meeting of the Whangarei County Council. The settlers suggested, that a supply could be obtained from the Waireke Palls, and had approached Mr. "A. J. Murdoch, M.P., -who had communicated with the Unemployment Board, -which ibad promised to do the work by unemployed labour free, of cost to. settlers if they could provide pipes. The Public Works had some eecond-hand pipes, which the settlers were trying to obtain.
The chairman, Mr. L. Webb, said that the movement merited'the support of the council; and he moved' in that direction, the motion being carried.
