WAR ON CRIME.

SCIENCE y. BANDITS. Invisible Ray Flouts "Smash And Grab" Raiders. V LONDON DEMONSTRATION. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, Jimts 8. An impressive demonstration of how science can defeat the "smash and grab" shop raiders was given at the conference of the National Association of Goldsmiths at Southend. A delegate hurled a heavy iron motor jack through the plateglass window of a dummy shop front. Immediately a siren screeched so that it could be heard half a mile away. A gas bomb exploded, a smoke bomb burst and a, steel blind snapped across the window. This was all operated by an invisible rav, and thus the gems were saved from the clutching hand of the bandit.
