SUNKEN EGYPT
First of Valuable Treasure
Salvaged.
BULLION EXPECTED SOON".
LONDON, June 7
A special correspondent of the "Daily Mail" at Brest says the divers of the Italian salvage vessel Artiglio 11. have raised the first valuables from the strongroom of the sunken British liner Egypt. They comprise a quantity of silver plate broken out of cases owing to the shock of the blasting charges and badly damaged by water.
The divers have discovered a case or two of magnificent sporting rifles, on which the gold plate is engraved with Crown initials. These have been identified as part of a large shipment for the Maharajah of Patiala.
The Artiglio's chief diver, Raffaelli, says he inspected the strongroom. It contained other valuables besides the bullion stored there. Their salvage will not long be delayed.
