PRINTS COLLECTION.
— > AUCKLAND ART GALLERY, An exhibition of some recently acquired prints and drawings has been arranged in the prints room of the Art Gallery by the honorary curator, Mr. T. V. Gulliver. The. collection comprises examples of the various processes of the graphic arts, and some drawings. Among the new prints shown for the first time is a very interesting example of Norman Lindsay's humorous work entitled " Fowls," a chalk drawing -which shows Lindsay's skill as a draughtsman. Among the other new prints are two wood engravings by Harry Clark, an Australian; a very fine etching by F. Bracquemond, entitled " Le Vieu Coq "; a beautiful example of D. Y. Cameron's etched work, entitled "Barneses II."; and etchings by Graham Sutherland and Alfred Bentley.
Examples of prints of local interest recently acquired are two wood engravings by Gilbert Meadows, a wood engraving by E. B. Boswell, whoso work in England has brought him considerable notice, and four prints by Miss Anne Sloane, Richard Wallwork, Boland Hipkins, and S. F. Champ, which were purchased for the gallery at the recent exhibition of the Society of Arts.
A_ selection from other prints in the collection is also on view. The collection represents a wide range of interest both in subject and manner, and should appeal to students and lovers of prints.
