BOARD'S CONSTITUTION.
SPECIAL INTERESTS NOT REPRESENTED. PURELY JUDICIAL BODY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
CHRISTCHURCH, this day,
Members of the Transport Appeal Board do not represent any particuhu interests. The fact that Mr. Thomas Jordan, of Mastcrton, and Mr. Lisle Aldorton, of Auckland, were nominated respectively by the municipal authorities and motor interests appears to have created an impression in some quarters that oa members of the board they represent thoso particular interests. Mr. Justice Frazer pointed out yesterday that the board is a judicial body and that neither of his colleagues represents any particular interests, and though they were nominated by interested parties they were selected and appointed by the Minister. "Members of the Transport Appeal Board," said his nonor, "do not think it proper to enter into any public controversy with interested parties, but it is necessary to remove a misconception that apparently exists in regard to the constitution of the board. In order that the board may bo a judicial body and function as such it is provided that no member of tho Appeal Board is to be interested directly or indirectly in any motor concern. The existence of any such interest is a disqualification from office. "It may ho added that all three of us aro members of the legal profession of over 20 years' standing."
