RACE HATRED.
AFLAME IN INDIA.
COMMUNAL CLASHES.
Bloodlust of Hindu-Moslem Religious Antagonism. MANY STABBING OUTRAGES. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Kecpircd 10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, June C. The age-old religious antagonism between the Hindus and Moslems which flared up in Bombay shows signs of spreading to other centres. The latest disturbance was in the Hindu State of Alwar, where communal feeling culminated in grave incidents.
Crowds of both communities, armed with sworde, axes, scythes, reaping hooks and knives gathered in the streets. State troops prevented a clash, but the crowds stampeded and the troops, fearing an attack, opened fire, killing three and wounding 40. The tension continues.
Three were killed and 20 were injured in Hindu-Moslem riots at Pundria, a small town of the Punjab, and four were killed and many injured in communal rioting in several villages at Jeesore, near Calcutta. Armed police separated the infuriated religionists numbering several thousands.
Stabbing outrages continue at Bom bay.
