Indians in Strong Position Against Northants. SOUTH AMERICA'S GOOD START (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 6. India's first innings closed for 270 (Colah 03; Jupp five for 04). Northants, who scored 155 in the opening innings, lost four for 83 in the second. Oxford: First innings, 170; second, two wickets for 80. South America: 405 (Marshall 153, Ferguson 85; Barlow five for 84).

Junior Event Won By Irish Motor Cyclist. NEW RECORD ESTABLISHED. (Beccived 10 a.m.) LONDON, June 0. An Irish competitor, Stanley Woods, riding a Norton motor cyclc, won the junior tourist trophy race in 205 minutes 25 seconds, a record. He covered the seven circuits, totalling 264 miles, at an average of 77.16 miles per hour. W. Handley, riding a Rudge machine, averaged 76.36 miles per hour for second place, and Tyrell Smith, on a Rudge, did 74.02 miles per hour to get third. Thirty-two riders started.
