"POLITICAL FANATIC."

LANG AND HIS CRUSADE. AN AUCRLANDER'S COMMENT. "Lang's mental attitude is the same as that of Lenin or Stalin. Ho is leadin"- a crusade. To thousands of people he is the Messiah. He is followed blindly and many people believe that he is the only one who can lend New South Wales into the 'promised land.'" So commented Mr. J. W. Dickson, of Auckland, on his return this morning from a two month's visit to Sydney. Many people misinterpreted Lang's attitude, said Mr. Dickson. They thought his policy was one of corruption. While there certainly had been open corruption, yet Lang himself had not obtained the spoils. The late Premier's friends had reaped the rewards of his position, but Lang himself had not been seduced by monetary bribes from his determination to break down the present economic conditions. "He is a political fanatic, and all the more dangerous because of his fanaticism," declared Mr. Dickson. Mr. Dickson. said he did not think that Lang would be elected to power next Saturday. The cumulative effect of the Press propaganda against his party must be a deciding factor. Apart from his own paper, the " Labour Daily," the whole Press was thundering against him. To show how fierce the party fight had been, there was the following painted on a fence at the Gap (notorious for the number of suicides): "If you are determined to commit suicide be a sport and shoot Lang first."
