ELAINE REACHES APIA.
EIGHTEEN-FOOTER SAILING THE PACIFIC. BOUND FOR CALIFORNIA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, Juno 1. Word reached Suva yesterday that Mr. Fred Kebell, who recently astounded seafaring men by sailing from Sydney to Suva in his little 18-footcr Elaine, has reached Apia after a voyage of 35 days from Suva. In a postcard received here he said he had spent a fortnight among the smaller islands of the Fiji group. He had good health all the time. Mr. Kebell appears to look upon his perilous trip with a remarkable sang-froid. One shipping man who saw his boat at Apia eaicl he would not sail across the liar- < hour in her, far less travel round the Pacific. Mr. Rcbell, after a rest, will leave Apia for Fanning Island, thence he will sail for Honolulu, and later for the California!! coast.
