OTAHUHU SAILING CLUB
THIRTY-SEVENTH PRIZE NIGHT. The Otahuhu Sailing Club held the thirty-seventh annual distribution ot prizes in the public hall last evening. There was a good attendance of members and their lady friends.' Mr. J. R. Morgan, commodore, welcomed the visitors, and gave a brief accountrof the activities of the past season.
The prizes were presented by the Mayor of Otahuhu, Mr. T. H. Clements, who is also president of the club. He paid a tribute to the good work of the commodore, Mr. J. Morgan, Mr. H. Fearnlcy, who is starter, handieapper and judge, Mr. W. R. Parkinson, treasurer, and My. E. Moller, honorary secretary. The principal' prize was the silver cup for the highest points scored during the season. This was won by Mr. J. R. Morgan's Surprise, with Mr. W. Evcreitt'w Spindrift runner-up. The champion flag was won by Mr. N. Clark's Oinaki.
The prize list also included: —First race: Waitia 1, Valrosa 2. Second race: Surprise 1, Spindrift 2. Third race: Sea Sprite 1, Omaki 2. Fourth race: Wayward 1, Sea Sprite 2. Fifth race: Ventura and Aurora, dead-heat, 1. Wayward and Omaki, dead-heat, 2. Sixth race: Aurora 1, Spindrift 2. Seventh race: Omaki 1, Wayward 2. Eighth race: Rahiri 1, Valrosa 2. Club regatta: Ben Machreo 1, Surprise 2. Tenth race: Rahiri 1. Surprise 2 ; Eleventh race: Rahiri 1, Spindrift 2. Twelfth race: Wyoming 1. Surprise 2. Final race, skippers under 21: Mr. J. J. Graham's cup. won by Wyoming, sailed by R. Castle. 1; Surprise, H. Purchase, 2. On behalf of the club. Mr. Clements presented Mr. H. Fearnley with a silver teaset in recognition of his duties as starter, handicapper and judge, carried on for the pajst 85 year*. Mr. Fearnley suitably acknowledged the gift.
