THIS MORNING'S WORK. ALL HUMBUG PLEASES. GAY COURT ALSO DEPRESSES. The weather this morning during training operations at Ellerslie was the most boisterous that has been experienced for years. A southerly gale accompanied by heavy rain am! '.. :il made conditions very unpleasant, and at times it was hard to distinguish the horses. No. 1 grass track, with the poles about OIL out, and the sand and hurdle tracks were open, but the going on the grass track was very heavy.
No. I Grass. Gold Money strode over a round at a strong pace, hut was not after time. This marc looks well, and will contest the York Handicap to-morrow, though .she may he in need of a nice. Beacon Fire and White Fang wore companion; ove. five furlongs, running 'the first two in 275, and completing their task in 1.0. White Fang, who was on the outside, was going the better of the pair at the finish, hut Beacon Fire was handicapped owing to the fact that his rider's overcoat became unbuttoned, and as he was gohi£ against the strong wind it militated against his progress. Catoma, after commencing slowly, and taking 43 4-5s for his first three furlongs, got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.41 4-5. He handled the heavy going well. Silvermine and Seneschal did strong work over six furlongs on the sand, but were not timed. Croupier and Full Measure were companions over five furlongs on the same track, running the distance in 1.5 2-5. This was a Rood effort, with Croupier showing to most advantage.
