TO STOP VINES BLEEDING.
When starting vines in spring the sap often oozes out at the wounds caused by cutting back the laterals. This ia known as "bleeding," and although not fatal, it must have a detrimental effect on the crop. To prevent it, after pruning, paint the cut surface of each wound with a quick-drying varnieh or you can use a specially prepared styptic sold by; seedsmen.
