FOR THE CHILDREN.
SUNSHINE ASSOCIATION APPEAL. HEALTH CAMPS START IN JUNE
The Community Sunshine Association's annual street collection realised £526, including separate donations. Last year the appeal brought in £730. Mr. A. J. Campbell, lion, secretary, said that the collection was most gratifving considering the depression. It was a sign of approval by the public of the association's work. The money would be devoted to the welfare of children through the Sunshine School, special night classes and health camps. Successive parties each of 90 children would be sent for a month's health recuperation to Motuihi Island. They would be chosen by tho school nurses from those who, in the present economic circumstances, most needed building up. The Education Department had assigned at least three teachers to carry on school at the island, and the association was hopeful that good work would be done. The first party would leave oil June 1, and the camps would be continued for four months, or longer if possible. Two hundred collectors were on duty yesterday, distributed amongst 26 stations. During the afternoon visits to the many workers were paid by her Excellency the Lady Bledisloe and the Mayoress, Mrs. G. W. Hutchison. The association was assisted by representatives of several kindred bodies. The collection was organised by Mr. G. Cruickshank, vice-president, assisted by Mrs. W. S. Pratt, president- of the Women's Auxiliary.
