JAPANESE SQUADRON.
VISIT TO WELLINGTON. ARRIVAL PROBABLE ON MONDAY. According to the original schedule, the Japanese cruisers Asania and Iwate were to arrive at Wellington next Tuesday morning, but just before the squadron left Sydney on Wednesday last Vice-Admiral Imamura cabled that the cruisers may reach Wellington on Monday, in which case the ships are expected to berth late on Monday afternoon.
The Government is extending the usual international courtesies to the personnel of the squadron, and an opportunity will bo given to the visitors to see Wellington and the adjacent country districts.
A luncheon will be tendered to the Admiral and principal officers at Parliament Buildings on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning 2~> officers will proceed to Palmerston North by the Napier express, returning to Wellington by the New Plymouth express in the afternoon. During the three hours' stay at Palmerston the visitors will be the guests of the Mayor and council, and will visit the Massey Agricultural College and motor around the district.
The aide-de-camp to the Admiral (Lieut.-Commander K. Hamanaka) will broadcast a message of welcome from the squadron through 2YA, but the time has not yet been definitely fixed.
Some live hundred citizens are to be the guests of the admiral and officers on Thursday at an at home, during which there will be displays of jiu jitsu, fencing, etc. On the evening of that day, the admiral's official dinner will be given on the Asama. The squadron will leave Wellington for Suva, Fiji, at 10 a.m. on Friday next.
