A PLEA FOR CONSIDERATION.
In. these times of depression men. out of work would appreciate a crumb of comfort from their more fortunate brothers in looking for the silver lining to their clouds, but, sad to relate, rebuffs are more the order of the day. How often do we hear of advertisers who do not even have the courtesy to advise men that positions are filled or fail to return original testimonials, bift these were completely put in the shade last Saturday night. There was an advertisement in your paper for a bookkeeper, to apply at an address in the suburbs between 0 and 7 p.m. Now to get there it would cost the average man out of work an equivalent of the bread bill for a week. The only construction to put on the advertisement was that every man who attended between 6 and 7 o'clock would have a hearing. I arrived at 6.15, to learn that the position was filled, and the advertiser sent a messenger to inform me oi the fact. Plenty of others must have arrived after me, to bo greeted in the same way till seven o'clock arrived- Advertisers should recognise the hardships of the unemployed and show any consideration that is possible. OUT OF POCKET.
