EX-TCWN CLERK OF MOSGIEL THEFT OF £1832. EARTHQUAKE FUNDS STOLEN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Mr. Justice Kennedy to-day sentenced Henry Butcher (00), ex-town clerk of Mosgiel, to three years' imprisonment for the theft of £1832, extending over a period of six years. The Crown Prosecutor mentioned that the accused had stolen £44 consisting of contributions to the Hawke's Bay earthquake fund. He said that the ofTences were aggravated by the forging of receipts which made detection difficult.
