BIRKENHEAD BAND.
The report adopted at the fourteenth annual meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Band, held in the Victoria Hall last evening, stated the strength of the band at 22, and that there were vacancies for six players. By means of a garden fete the sum of £00 had been raised. The instruments had been vested in the Borough Council pending the liquidation of the amount owing, £180. The assets were £644, and liabilities £181.
Pleasure was voiced at the appointment of Dr. J. W. Craven, vice-patron, to the position of superintendent of the Auckland Hospital.

Stott, AA r . B. Darlow, B. L. Brown, W. E. Patterson, G. R. Hutchinson and J. Prickett; conductor. Lieutenant J. T. Lighten; treasurer, Mr. P. J. McGovern; secretary, Mr. V. F. Queenin; librarian, Mr. G. A. Huddleston; committee, Messrs. G. A. Huddleston, A. Stott. C. Patten, R. Lunny, W. Wilson (bandsmen's representatives), R. R. Hayman. E. Lanigan (representatives of honorary members), J. Macdonald. J. Prickett and A. G. Jasper (appointed by the Birkenhead Borough Council): auditor, Mr. M. J. Stewart; hon. solicitor, Mr. Jackson Kerruish. Mr. G. A. Huddleston, the founder of the band, was elected a life member.
