PROVINCIAL MEETINGS. ELECTIONS OF CHAIRMEN". Annual meetings of county councils in the Auckland province were held yesterday. In a number of instances the retiring chairman was re-elected. At Whakatane Mr. W. Reid was re-elected for his twenty-first term. Results:— Manukau.—Mr. F. M. Waters (reelected). Waitemata.—Mr. W. A. Bishop (reelected). Mr. Bishop was also appointed , county representative on the No. 2 District Council of the Main Highways Board. Thames.—Mr. H. Lowe (unopposed). Rodney.—Mr. W. K. Becroft. Mr. W. J. Scholium, who had been chairman for «ix years, was defeated by one vote. Whangarei.—Mr. L. Webb. Mr. Webb, who has been chairman of the council since 1026, was also re-elected the councils representative on the District Highways "Franklin.—Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P. Raglan.—Mr. H. W. Wilson (re-elected). Otamatea—Mr. Rodney C'oates (unopposed).
